Designed informational event to advocate against flea market displacement. Participants included City Officials, Private Developers, Policy Leaders and Labor organizers.  Merchants shared personal stories as to what the Flea Market means to them 8 why it's so important it be saved. Three Land Use experts and attorneys  shared:


  • -Examples of public markets in the US and internationally, the public benefits they provide, & successful efforts to preserve them

  • -An explanation of community benefits agreements & their role in helping redevelopment benefits as many people as possible

  • -A case study of another iconic Bay Area open-air market that is part of transit-oriented development plans
